Ivey HBA is a great opportunity if you can excel within Finance and most of your courses. So if anyone could offer any outside opinions on this I would appreciate it. BA in Econ is far greater would leave me in a difficult position financially should I choose to do a masters. The financial cost of the HBA compared to the hons. HBA2's courses also appear fairly limited compared to what Honors econ has to offer.
Third year econ has a large amount of classes that look very interesting as well as a greater level of autonomy in terms of how I can set up my schedule. I also was not a big fan of the case method for various reasons. 1220 and the only unit I really enjoyed was finance so I don't think i'll be very happy getting up for 8am class every single day to take 1 finance class that I may or may not enjoy. degree then maybe a masters in finance or an MBA to be more appealing to those institutions. Most of the financial services industry prefers people to have a masters so it seems to make more sense to me to complete the honors econ. Those that don't make the cut really are no closer to breaking into the industry as anyone else. I'm hoping to do finance and from what I've heard from Ivey students only the top 25% of people really have a chance of getting those kind of internships. If anyone who's in Ivey could play devil's advocate I'd appreciate it as if I do get in I don't want to squander an opportunity. I'm currently at uwo but the more I'm looking at the structure of the HBA I'm starting to have reservations on actually attending Ivey.
